Unrivaled Heads to Brooklyn for Semifinals After Record Attendance

Unrivaled, the professional women’s 3-on-3 basketball league, is set to play its semifinal games at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on March 2, 2024. This marks the league’s second road trip away from its Miami base this season. The decision to travel to New York for these crucial playoff matchups follows a successful set of games in Philadelphia in late January, where Unrivaled attracted a record crowd.

On January 31, Unrivaled drew an impressive 21,490 fans to Xfinity Mobile Arena, establishing a new record for attendance at a regular-season women’s professional basketball game, as well as for any event held at that venue. According to a source familiar with the league’s plans, this surge in attendance and enthusiasm significantly influenced the decision to host the semifinals in Brooklyn.

The goal of staging the playoff games at Barclays Center, which has a seating capacity of approximately 17,532 for basketball, is to capitalize on the excitement generated during the Philadelphia games. The league aims to “continue the momentum” and expand its reach within the sporting community, as noted by the source. Financially, Unrivaled reported earnings of $2 million from the Philadelphia event, with over half of that amount generated from ticket sales, merchandise, and sponsorships.

The New York Liberty, who play at Barclays during the WNBA season, have averaged 16,323 tickets sold per game in 2025, ranking them as the third-highest in the league’s attendance statistics, behind the Golden State Valkyries and Indiana Fever. This sets a promising backdrop for Unrivaled’s upcoming semifinals.

The first round of Unrivaled playoffs will begin on February 28 at Sephora Arena in Miami, where the league is primarily based. The four teams that advance from these initial rounds will travel to Brooklyn for the semifinals, while the championship game will return to Florida. The winning team will receive a substantial prize pool of $600,000, heightening the stakes for the competitors.

As Unrivaled continues to build its brand and expand its audience, the upcoming games in Brooklyn will be a pivotal moment for the league, reflecting both its growth and the increasing interest in women’s sports.
