A devastating fire on February 7, 2024, destroyed the home of Danijela Mladenović in Park Forest Zagorič, leaving her and her three daughters in urgent need of assistance. The rental property, a prefabricated house, was nearly completely consumed by flames while Danijela was at work. Fortunately, her daughters managed to escape unharmed, thanks to the quick action of the eldest, who alerted neighbors.
The community has quickly come together to provide support for the family during this challenging time. Danijela expressed her gratitude to the numerous individuals, neighbors, colleagues, and institutions extending their help. She remarked, “I am very thankful to all the kind-hearted people. Many have reached out to assist.”
Emergency Response and Community Support
Following the incident, the Social Welfare Secretariat contacted Danijela to inform her that while they did not currently have any available city apartments for her family, they would provide €600 in financial assistance. In addition, a local acquaintance revealed that the city had reached out to businesses and organizations to solicit further support for the Mladenović family.
Danijela noted that many individuals have already donated money to her bank account. “My former employers have also offered financial help, as well as the school where my daughters study,” she added. Due to the trauma of the event, she has been unable to return to work this week, and her eldest daughter, who is in the fourth grade of high school, has also missed classes.
Currently, the family is residing in an apartment provided by a friend, who temporarily moved in with a relative to accommodate them.
Investigation and Future Assistance
According to officials from the Social Welfare Secretariat, investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire that occurred in the prefabricated house on Street Five (No. 27) in Park Forest Zagorič. The Secretariat has confirmed that they will take necessary actions in line with their responsibilities, including providing one-time financial assistance to Danijela and her children.
In their statement, they mentioned, “Measures of support and assistance for the homeowner will also be considered in accordance with applicable regulations.”
The damage was extensive, affecting the living room, a significant portion of the kitchen, the hallway, parts of the bathroom, and the installations, doors, and frames in the bedrooms. Thanks to the quick thinking of Danijela’s eldest daughter and the help of neighbors, there were no serious injuries.
Danijela works at a supermarket and is in dire need of assistance to navigate through this difficult situation. Those wishing to help the Mladenović and Bujša families can do so by contributing to Danijela’s bank account at the Montenegrin Commercial Bank, account number 510000000200189125.
