The North Wales Coast West Premier Division title race intensified over the weekend as the top three teams secured impressive victories. Leaders Menai Bridge Tigers triumphed over Penrhyndeudraeth with a score of 4-2 on Friday, while both Nantlle Vale and Nefyn United followed up with commanding wins the next day. With the Tigers now eight points ahead of their closest rivals, Nantlle Vale has four games in hand, and Nefyn has three.
Menai Bridge set a strong precedent with their match against Penrhyndeudraeth, where they took the lead in the 21st minute thanks to Matthew Jones. The visitors, having struggled to find form, responded with an equalizer from Gwion Davies. The Tigers regained the advantage shortly before halftime through John Littlemore, and Cameron Barry extended the lead to 3-1 just after the hour mark. Despite a late goal from Reece Evans that narrowed the gap, Kaine Bentley sealed the win with a fourth goal in stoppage time.
Nantlle Vale enjoyed a more straightforward victory against Llanerch-y-Medd on Saturday. The hosts controlled the match from the outset, and Ashley Owen opened the scoring with his 16th goal of the season just ten minutes in. Luke Phillips quickly doubled their lead, and Alex Kalafusz made it 3-0 before the half-hour mark. Kalafusz added a second goal shortly after halftime, and the scoring continued with Carter Davies and Llion Griffiths bringing the total to six. Despite the score, Llanerch-y-Medd managed to find a consolation goal through Tomos Hughes late in the game.
Meanwhile, Steffan Toplis shone for Nefyn United, scoring his second hat-trick in four matches since joining from Pwllheli. Nefyn defeated Talysarn Celts 4-0 at Cae’r Delyn. Toplis opened the scoring in the 10th minute and quickly added a second, both assists coming from Tomi Evans. After completing his hat-trick with a third goal, Jake Jones assisted the forward for his ninth goal since joining the club. A fourth goal from 16-year-old Deio Jones solidified Nefyn’s dominance, although Talysarn held firm for the remainder of the match.
In another fixture, Llanystumdwy secured a 3-1 victory over Llanberis. Early goals from Albert Nosakhare and Arwyn Jones put the Eifionydd side ahead, with Guto Jones pulling one back for Llanberis before Arwyn Jones scored again to clinch the win.
The match between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Boded was postponed due to inclement weather, leaving the title race and playoff spots still very much in contention as the season progresses.
