Millie Mackintosh has expressed her intention to explore homeschooling for her daughters, Sienna and Aurelia, as she suspects they may be “on the neurodivergent spectrum.” This announcement comes shortly after her separation from her husband, Hugo Taylor, with whom she shares the two children.
Speaking on the “Mum’s The Word” podcast, Mackintosh revealed that her daughters have been questioning the necessity of attending school. The former *Made In Chelsea* star, now 36, reflected on her own experiences with schooling, admitting that she did not enjoy her time in the classroom. She stated, “My daughter – both of them – are just like, ‘Why do I have to go to school, Mummy? Why?’ I get it. I hated going too.”
In light of her daughters’ inquiries, Mackintosh has begun researching homeschooling as a viable alternative. She indicated that if her children are interested, she would be willing to take that path. “I actually would love to homeschool them if it was what they wanted,” she added.
Mackintosh’s comments come in the wake of her recent split from Taylor, 39, after seven years of marriage. Their separation has led to discussions about co-parenting and how best to support their daughters’ educational needs.
Concerns About Neurodivergence
Mackintosh shared her concerns about her daughters potentially being neurodivergent. She cited specific behaviours that have led her to this conclusion, particularly in her youngest daughter, Aurelia. The mother of two described Aurelia’s extreme pickiness with food and clothing as behaviours that could indicate neurodivergence. “My youngest, Aurelia, is so fussy in particular about things,” she explained, noting that Aurelia has a strong attachment to certain outfits and limited food preferences.
Mackintosh also reflected on her own struggles with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), suggesting that she sees similarities in her daughters. “We don’t have a diagnosis, but I think Sienna maybe is [ADHD]. Sienna is me,” she noted, expressing a desire to understand her children’s needs better.
Overall, Mackintosh is grappling with the complexities of her daughters’ education while also managing the fallout from her personal life. She acknowledged the challenges of homeschooling, especially with her work commitments. “I tried to just reframe it and think I’ve had so much time with her this month. I was like, it’s fine, I’ll just homeschool her. Then I was like, I can’t do that because I also need to work,” she stated.
Personal Growth and Challenges
This period of reflection comes as Mackintosh navigates her own journey of self-discovery following her split from Taylor. The couple, who initially met as teenagers and starred together on *Made In Chelsea*, have reportedly grown apart due to differing life paths. Sources close to Mackintosh have indicated that her recent lifestyle changes, including sobriety since 2022, have played a significant role in their separation.
In her 2025 book, *Bad Drunk*, Mackintosh candidly discusses her struggles with addiction and the impact of her past experiences, including bullying and social anxiety. These revelations highlight the personal challenges she has faced, which may influence her approach to motherhood and education.
As Mackintosh continues to evaluate her parenting decisions, her focus remains on providing a supportive environment for her daughters. The ongoing discussions about homeschooling and understanding neurodiversity reflect her commitment to prioritizing their well-being during this transitional period in their lives.
