Dogs Trust Kenilworth has initiated efforts to help more dogs find loving homes as 2026 unfolds. The charity successfully rehomed its first dog of the year, a three-year-old Staffie named Archie, who found a forever home on January 2 after spending 44 days in their care. Despite this positive start, many dogs remain in need of homes, including Max, a four-year-old Border Collie seeking a calm and patient environment.
Max can be overwhelmed by the outside world and would thrive in a cozy rural setting. The charity suggests he would do well in a household with older teenagers and needs to be paired with another confident dog to help guide him as he adjusts to his new surroundings.
For those interested in adopting, Dogs Trust Kenilworth encourages potential owners to visit the rehoming centre. There, visitors can meet the dogs, interact with the dedicated team, and ask questions about the adoption process. The centre is open to the public five days a week, and no appointment is necessary to visit or seek advice.
Finding the right match for each dog can take time, sometimes several months. Adoption applications last for a period of three months, during which the team is committed to helping individuals find the right companion, regardless of how long it takes.
Emma-Jane Thomas, Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, expressed pride in the charity’s achievements, stating, “We’re incredibly proud to have rehomed over 850 dogs in 2025, but every day we continue to care for many wonderful dogs who are still waiting to find their forever homes. As we look ahead to the rest of 2026, we know there is still so much work to be done.”
Emma-Jane further invited residents from across the West Midlands to visit the centre, emphasizing the importance of seeing firsthand how the charity matches dogs with suitable homes. Whether one is ready to adopt or simply wants to learn more about responsible dog ownership, a visit to the centre can be an informative first step.
