UPDATE: Actor Timothy Busfield, known for his role in The West Wing, faced a New Mexico court today as he confronts serious child sex abuse charges. The 68-year-old star appeared in an orange jumpsuit, charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact with minors under 13 and one count of child abuse.
In a shocking turn of events, Busfield is accused of engaging in unlawful sexual conduct with 11-year-old twin boys. Disturbingly, one allegation claims that the abuse began when one boy was merely 7 years old. The presiding judge confirmed that a pretrial detention hearing will occur within the next five business days, with a preliminary hearing set for January 29, 2024.
Authorities report that Busfield was initially evasive after a warrant was issued for his arrest on January 4. However, he turned himself in to Albuquerque police on January 13. Busfield, who has over 700 credits in his career and won an Emmy Award for his role in Thirtysomething, is currently grappling with the fallout from these serious allegations.
