Urgent Recall of Ready Meals Due to Allergy Risk

A significant recall has been issued by the health food brand PUREPOWER Nutrition for two of its ready-meal products, posing a potential health risk to individuals with specific allergies. The recall affects the Chicken & Chorizo Paella and Chicken Chow Mein meals due to a mispacking issue that has raised concerns over undisclosed allergens.

The Chicken & Chorizo Paella has been incorrectly packaged with the Chicken Chow Mein, leading to the inclusion of milk, which is not disclosed on its label. This oversight could pose serious health risks for those with allergies or intolerances to milk or its components. In response to this mispacking, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has advised consumers to take immediate action.

Details of the Recall

The FSA stated, “PUREPOWER Nutrition is recalling Chicken & Chorizo Paella because it has been mispacked with Chicken Chow Mein and contains milk, which is not mentioned on the label, and is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.” To ensure consumer safety, PUREPOWER Nutrition is also recalling the Chicken Chow Mein as a precaution.

Customers who have purchased either of these products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. The affected meals are packaged in 400g containers, with the Chicken & Chorizo Paella having a use-by date of up to and including January 17, 2024, and the Chicken Chow Mein with a use-by date of up to and including January 15, 2024.

Consumer Guidance and Safety Measures

For further assistance, customers are encouraged to contact the company’s customer care line at [email protected]. The FSA has also indicated that PUREPOWER Nutrition has been advised to reach out to relevant allergy support organizations to inform their members about the recall.

In addition, the company has implemented point-of-sale notices to ensure consumers are aware of the recall and understand the necessary steps to take if they have purchased the affected products. The swift action taken by PUREPOWER Nutrition highlights the importance of consumer safety and transparency regarding food allergens.
