UPDATE: A beloved café in Delph, Oldham, is set to undergo a significant transformation as its owners, Michelle and Steve Greenwood, announce their departure after more than two years of operation. The Garage, located at Saddleworth Business Centre, will soon be rebranded under the Pick Me Up identity, with Sally Dewhirst taking over in January 2026.
The café, known for its homemade cakes, pastries, and unique homeware from local suppliers, has been a community staple since opening its doors in 2023. In a heartfelt statement, the Greenwoods expressed their excitement about passing the reins to Dewhirst, highlighting her passion for community and innovative ideas for the café’s future.
“This is a new chapter for The Garage,” they stated. “We couldn’t be happier to hand over the reins to someone who shares our passion for community — and who has some exciting new ideas, including an extended product range and longer opening hours.”
Dewhirst, the former owner of the popular Pick Me Up Co. takeaway coffee shop, expressed her enthusiasm for the new venture. “We’re coming to Delph! In January 2026, we’ll be taking on The Garage Coffee & Homeware,” she announced. “Michelle and Steve have created a cosy space that we’re excited to make our own while keeping the community spirit at the heart of every Pick Me Up Truck.”
In a separate post, Dewhirst emphasized the need for growth, stating, “Cosy days in the cave made me realise we need more. I can’t wait to bring you the next chapter of The Pick Me Up in DELPH. Cosy seating, comforting bites, amazing coffee, and always The Pick Me Up vibes.”
Residents have responded enthusiastically. Comments on social media reflect the excitement: one user exclaimed, “Aghhhh!! So exciting,” while another added, “Looking forward to you being with us in Delph.” A third commented, “We will definitely be popping in,” showcasing the community’s eagerness for the upcoming changes.
Dewhirst has also confirmed that the Pick Me Up truck will continue to be present at various events throughout the year, ensuring that loyal customers can still enjoy their offerings while the café undergoes renovations.
As the transition unfolds, residents of Delph can look forward to a revitalized café experience that promises to maintain the warm community spirit established by its previous owners. The exact date for the reopening and details of the new menu offerings will be announced soon.
