Samsung Unveils New Dolby Atmos Soundbars Ahead of CES 2026

Samsung has announced two new elite Dolby Atmos soundbars ahead of the upcoming CES 2026. The models, named the HW-Q990H and HW-QS90H, aim to enhance the brand’s reputation in the competitive home audio market. While the company has yet to release images of the new soundbars, detailed specifications and features have been shared.

The HW-Q990H is the successor to the highly acclaimed HW-Q990F, which has garnered five-star ratings as one of the best soundbars for immersive Dolby Atmos sound. This new model continues the legacy with an 11.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos setup, comprising a main soundbar, two wireless rear speakers, and a wireless subwoofer. The front soundbar features seven channels and two upfiring height channels, while each rear speaker contains two angled surround speakers and an upfiring speaker.

Samsung has introduced two new audio processing technologies with this model: Sound Elevation and Auto Volume. Sound Elevation aims to deliver clearer dialogue by lifting it toward the center of the screen, enhancing the overall viewing experience. Meanwhile, Auto Volume promises to maintain consistent volume levels across different channels and types of content, eliminating sudden spikes in audio during advertisements or quieter scenes in older films.

While Samsung has not disclosed pricing or specific release dates, the HW-Q990F launched at $1,999 / £1,699 / AU$2,099 and typically sees releases in spring, suggesting a similar timeline for the new model.

In addition to the HW-Q990H, Samsung has introduced the HW-QS90H, designed as a standalone all-in-one soundbar. This model consists of 7.1.2 channels and features a total of 13 drivers, including four bass drivers that Samsung has dubbed a Quad Bass Woofer system. The configuration is designed to deliver robust low-end sound without the need for a separate subwoofer.

A notable aspect of the HW-QS90H is its versatility in installation. It can be positioned flat on a surface or rotated upright for wall mounting, a feature that was well-received in the previous HW-QS700F model. This soundbar directly competes with the Sonos Arc Ultra, which has been praised for its deep built-in bass. Both soundbars leverage multiple drivers to create impactful sound, although the specific configurations differ.

As CES 2026 approaches, the audio community will be keen to hear how the new Samsung soundbars perform in practice. TechRadar plans to provide comprehensive coverage of the event, detailing all major announcements and offering hands-on reviews of the latest innovations in audio technology. The anticipated showdown between the HW-QS90H and the Sonos Arc Ultra is particularly noteworthy, especially given Samsung’s reputation for addressing previous criticisms related to audio connectivity and support.

Stay tuned for further updates as more details emerge from CES 2026, where the latest advancements in home entertainment technology will be showcased.
