This recognition highlights her exceptional leadership in vital financial recovery efforts within the NHS Trust.
Since taking on her role in November 2024, McInnes has been a driving force behind the financial turnaround of both the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. Authorities confirm that under her guidance, the trust has achieved remarkable cost improvements, saving £24.9 million this year alone, with a target of £41.4 million set for 2025/26.
The HFMA judges commended McInnes for her “skill and humility” in engaging teams in the critical work of recovery and transformation. They described her as a “role model” who is instilling optimism for the future of healthcare in the region.

In addition to McInnes’ commendable achievement, SaTH’s Deputy Chief Nurse, Kara Blackwell, received high praise in the ‘Working with Finance – Clinician of the Year’ category.
