Haslemere Mayor Celebrates Achievements and Plans for 2026

In her end-of-year message, Cllr Jean Arrick, the Mayor of Haslemere, outlined the town’s accomplishments throughout 2025 and shared her vision for the upcoming year. The mayor expressed gratitude to the community for its collective efforts in fostering a vibrant and supportive environment.

Achievements in 2025

The year 2025 marked significant progress for the Haslemere Town Council. A total of over £70,500 in grants was awarded to local organizations dedicated to enhancing the lives of residents. Additionally, the council distributed more than £125,000 in Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding to various community projects.

Among the notable initiatives, the council has submitted seven land asset transfer requests to Waverley Borough Council. This includes the acquisition of the Haslemere Recreation Ground and the successful transfer of the Beacon Hill Recreation Ground. Furthermore, plans for a new children’s playground at Town Meadow have been approved, with installation scheduled for early 2026.

Community Engagement and Events

Throughout the year, Cllr Arrick participated in numerous local events that highlighted Haslemere’s strong community spirit. These included initiatives like Love Haslemere Hate Waste and the Haslemere Sports Awards. The mayor also visited various organizations, such as The Hunter Centre and Crossways Counselling, noting the commitment of volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting others in the community.

Among the successful events hosted by the council were the VE Day Celebration, the Bark in the Park Dog Show, and the Christmas Carols at the Museum. Each event contributed to the fabric of community life in Haslemere, strengthening connections among residents.

Looking ahead to 2026, Cllr Arrick announced plans for a Mayor’s Gala Ball scheduled for February. This event aims to raise funds for her chosen charities, the RSCH Cancer & Innovation Centre and the 1st Hindhead Scout Group. Further details will be made available on the town council’s website.
