Isle of Man Law Firm Commits £1,500 Annually to Air Ambulance Service

An Isle of Man law firm, Appleby, has pledged to donate £1,500 annually to support the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). This service is vital for providing emergency medical care on the island, delivering critical support by air and road across the North East of England, Cumbria, North Yorkshire, and the Isle of Man.

Since partnering with Manx Care in March 2022, GNAAS has become the Isle of Man’s official emergency air ambulance service. The organization has responded to over 70 incidents locally, effectively providing advanced pre-hospital care to patients facing serious health emergencies.

The GNAAS service is equipped to perform complex medical procedures at the scene of an incident, such as pre-hospital anaesthesia and blood transfusions. It can also facilitate direct helicopter transfers to specialist trauma centres in the UK, ensuring patients receive urgent treatment without delay.

Appleby’s ongoing financial contribution will assist in covering essential equipment, training, and operational costs associated with maintaining this critical service on the island. GNAAS estimates that it requires at least £124,000 annually to meet the additional costs of its operations in the Isle of Man.

Members of the GNAAS team recently visited Appleby’s Isle of Man office to discuss the charity’s work and explore ways the firm could provide support. Tom Brook, a partner at Appleby Isle of Man, emphasized the importance of the air ambulance service for the local community.

“Living on an island, the value of the life-saving service provided by GNAAS to the Isle of Man community cannot be overstated,” Brook stated. “We are delighted to provide an ongoing contribution to help fund this essential emergency service.”

In response, Mandy Karsa, the Isle of Man fundraiser for GNAAS, expressed gratitude for Appleby’s support. “This contribution will enable our team to continue helping critically ill and injured patients within the community,” she noted.

Further information about GNAAS and its operations can be found on the charity’s website. The partnership between Appleby and GNAAS highlights the vital role of community support in sustaining essential services that save lives.
